Charles Barblett is an active, qualified, and award winning composer and performer. He iprides himself on his ability to capture and describe memories through music.
Charles is classically trained in music composition, graduating with First Class Honours from the University of Western Australia (UWA) Consveratorium of Music. To name a few of his accomplishments, he has been twice selected for the Western Australia’s Symphony Orchestra’s Young and Emerging Artist’s Program, was awarded Runner-Up in Willoughby Symphony Orchestra’s Young Composer of the Year, determined as a finalist in UWA’s Dorothy Ellen Ransom Prize, and awarded an Orchestral Management Fellowship with the Australian Youth Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Charles is competitively active as a performer domestically and internationally, having won state titles in solo bagpipe, solo bass drum, and pipe band performance. Charles has performed on the world stage at the Edinburgh Military and Basel tattoos. He is also an experienced tutor, having been employed to teach bagpipes at Scotch College, Presbyterian Ladies College, and Trinity College.
The tools and tuition offered through this site are aimed at assisting pipe band musicians in enhancing their musicianship. This includes developing their ability to identify tuning irregularities and resolve those irregularities. It also includes an ability to run rehearsals or performances with synched programmable metronomes.
